THE PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR ENGLISH TO/FROM WELSH TRANSLATORS AND INTERPRETERS

Professional Development

Professional development is improving, updating and expanding one's skills and professional knowledge and other key factors essential for attaining the highest possible standards in one's work.

In this respect, translators and interpreters are no different to workers within other professions. Cymdeithas Cyfieithwyr Cymru encourages its members and non-members to take advantage of every training, networking and development opportunities available to them.

Indeed, professional development is totally voluntary: it is the individual who decides which skills he or she needs to develop and which courses and workshops to take part in. It is important to emphasise that professional development is advantageous to translators and interpreters at any stage of their career, from beginners to the more experienced.

Cymdeithas Cyfieithwyr Cymru recognises the importance of training and professional development through its programme of workshops, the translation e-workshop, and the 'Ymarfer CAP' (interpreting practice sessions). These activities are open to all and are not confined to our members. We can also arrange bespoke training programmes which meet the needs of any institution or company.

Cymdeithas Cyfieithwyr Cymru is part funded by the Welsh Government.
