THE PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR ENGLISH TO/FROM WELSH TRANSLATORS AND INTERPRETERS

Membership of Organizations

Maintaining and promoting its relationships with other organizations within the industry and beyond is of the utmost importance to Cymdeithas Cyfieithwyr Cymru.

The Memorandum of Understanding between Cymdeithas Cyfieithwyr Cymru and Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol was signed by both parties at its launch at the National Eisteddfod, 2014 in Llanelli. The aim of the Memorandum of Understanding is to confirm the principles and areas of co-operation between both organizations on matters relating to translation and interpretation.

Cymdeithas Cyfieithwyr Cymru is an official member of the Fédération Internationale des Traducteurs (FIT), the international body for translation and interpretation associations, which promotes the interest of translators and interpreters and that of the profession. It has a working relationship with other associations and organizations within the industry, including the Institute of Translation and Interpreting, Chartered Institute of Linguists, National Register of Public Service Interpreters and the European Parliament's Translation and Interpretation Directorate.

Cymdeithas Cyfieithwyr Cymru also maintains a relationship with Welsh organizations and institutions. It is a member of Grŵp Hyrwyddo'r Gymraeg (Welsh language promotion group), a discussion forum for organizations within the field of language planning and is chaired by a representative of the Welsh Government. It is also a member of the WCVA, Mantell Gwynedd, Dathlu'r Gymraeg, and Dyfodol i'r Iaith.
